WEDDING: Sally & Scott's Currumbin Valley Wedding

Updated: Jun 17, 2021

Sally & Scott's picturesque Gold Coast Hinterland wedding was a labour of love which encountered an unexpected "bump" in the road mid-way along their journey.

MAGICAL MOMENT

When we woke up on the morning of our wedding, it was overcast and rainy. We were a bit worried because our wedding ceremony was an outdoor event and we didn't have a backup plan! We tried not to let this dampen our spirits though. Then amazingly, about an hour before the ceremony was due to begin, the sun came out and the weather was warm (in the middle of winter!) Our ceremony ran perfectly and we were stressing for nothing. The rain continued to hold off until five minutes before our reception began, by which time everyone was already safely tucked away inside.

THE VENUE

We decided on the elegant Kanbeki House as our wedding venue because it held special meaning for Scott and our family as a whole. Although Kanbeki was no longer operating as a venue to the public, we were lucky enough to have our wedding here as it is Scott's family's property, and he spent much of his youth here. It made the day all the more special to us.

THE FOOD

We chose Ridgeway Catering as our food vendors - and we could not have been happier with this choice if we tried! Everything was impeccable, from the presentation, to the flavours, and of course the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everyone at our wedding was looked after.

THE CAKE

We absolutely loved our cake! It was created by the exceptionally talented pastry chef, Louisa, from Cakes Alouisa. Each layer was a different flavour (we chose red velvet, Ferrero Rocher, and salted caramel) and Louisa painstakingly replicated the flowers from my wedding bouquet out of sugar to sit atop the cake! She also colour matched the icing with our Tiffany-blue colour scheme.

THE DRESS

I chose my dress almost as soon as Scott proposed to me! It was from Brisbane designer Hilde Heim. I loved its simplicity and classic, understated elegance. I did have to have it altered though closer to our wedding date due to an unforeseen "bump" in the road.

WE'RE GLAD WE

Established good relationships with our wedding vendors and planned things thoroughly in advance. Our original wedding date was meant to be November 2013, but fate had other ideas. Instead, we were surprised with a bundle of joy - our first son, Harry - who decided he need to join us on the day. Luckily, all of our vendors were so understanding, and we were able to push our wedding date back to July 2014 with no issues.
